This painting has to be seen in person. Dramatic visual style and technique. Circa 1950s. Signed “Bévort.” Some paint loss. It came from a very good South Fork/Hamptons house. We put it on a new stretcher and added an new custom frame. 50 x 26 inches as framed.
Johannes Hubertus Hendrikus Bévort (Dutch, 1917-1996). Bévort was an impressionist artist and well known for his paintings with a palette knife, of seascapes, beach views, and sailboats. He is listed in Pieter A.Scheen’s Lexicon Nederlandse Beeldende Kunstenaars (1750-1950).
